I created this unique starry background in photoshop one day, when I was completely and utterly bored. Even though it might look real (or might not at all; perspective), its absolutely done in photoshop and fictional.

There drew he forth the brand Excalibur,
And o’er him, drawing it, the winter moon,
Brightening the skirts of a long cloud, ran forth
And sparkled keen with frost against the hilt:
For all the haft twinkled with diamond sparks,
Myriads of topaz-lights, and jacinth-work
Of subtlest jewellery.

beautiful work -
there's not much that i might be able to give a critique on, since its a singular piece.
but it would've perhaps been a bit more "lively" had the effect of the light from the centre/nebula been more pronounced on all else around it.
and if there were gradations of light within the nebula as well -
not something along the lines of one expansive single colored blinding projection.
still - lovely, it is.
